Landscape photography is often all about the expansive view the big sky in other words we as photographers put tons of attention on the background of the photograph. Theres not just one best length.

Hyperfocal distance is a point where if the lens is focused at that distance everything from half that distance all the way to infinity will be in focus.

Youve probably run into the title question in practice. This involves shooting in one shot mode on your camera and finding one part of the area that you want to focus on.
Without it youll find people will simply glance at your shots and then move on to the next one. Just sort your best 40 60 landscape photos by focal length or lens which nearly all software can do. But thats not the only way to use the foreground in landscape images.
The foreground is often used to add spaciousness to our panoramic view. Dont follow the results blindly especially if you have yet to purchase a particular type of lens so far which would skew your data.
